Describe Image | Retell lecture

After the Retell lecture, the third speaking task is Describe Image. In describe image questions, you're shown an image for 25 seconds and then asked to respond for 40 seconds. A long audio recording and an image on the screen accompany the Retell lecture. As a result, you receive about four describe image questions and two Retell lecture questions. A content, oral fluency, and pronunciation evaluation is used to assess both tasks. In the Retell lecture task, you are required to speak very clearly and precisely, and in the describe image task, you should only describe what you saw in the image. Neither you nor your own knowledge about the topic discussed will earn any points if you speak about anything irrelevant.

You have only 12 seconds to prepare yourself for Retell lecture questions, which is very short. The only thing you can do is to grab your pen and paper and take notes as soon as possible. To do this, you must note down all the key words and phrases that were mentioned in the audio recording. After you have noted down the keywords, you only have ten seconds left before you need to speak. These forty seconds require you to describe the keywords you noted earlier in a structured manner. If you are unsure of the format, you can use the Edutrainex Retell Lecture template. In addition to being high scoring, these templates are easy to understand and use, and they take into account all the PTE scoring criteria. They include transition words, as well as an introduction, body, and conclusion, making them easy to use.

A Describe Image question requires you to spend 25 seconds examining a graph or image, followed by 40 seconds discussing your observations. This is where you identify the main points of interest and then discuss the trends you have identified, and you can also make some predictions at the end. However, there are templates for the Describe Image task that can definitely assist you, but you should also try to come up with some sentences on your own. There are many different types of images that you can get from the question, such as multiple charts, tables, process diagrams, etc., because bar graphs have different explanations and pie charts have different explanations. In your introduction, you should summarize what the image is all about. Then, you should explain in more detail what's going on in the graph. And at the end, you can either provide a summary or make a prediction.

In addition to pronunciation, describing images and retelling lectures are very important, so you should speak very clearly so that the PTE algorithm can follow you. You do not have to copy foreign accents, just speak as you normally do. Stressing words is very important, both sentence and word stress. Word stress in Retell lecture is focused on the correct syllables in a word, whereas sentence stress is focused on the right words in a sentence. As part of oral fluency, you must speak fluently without hesitations, modulate your voice, and speak at a decent pace, otherwise the PTE algorithm won't be able to hear you.
